For beginners

No strategy yet? Good. Start with a ready-made one.

You define what matters to you in a company. StockScorer checks every night which stocks meet it. Nothing more, and that is the point: nobody tells you what to buy. You learn to judge it yourself, with numbers you can look up. This page walks you through three steps, the first two without an account.

  • Three steps, two without an account
  • Real data
  • Not investment advice
Step 1 · No account

Type a name or ticker. You land on the stock's public page with score, categories and metrics.

More than 2,000 stocks have a public page. Further metrics per stock come with an account.

Three steps from watching to your own judgement

Nothing to study first. Each step shows you something concrete, and only the third one needs an account.

  1. Look at a stock you know

Type the name above. On the stock's page you see how many rules of a ready-made rule set it meets, where it is strong and which metrics sit behind that. All real, all without signing in.

  2. Try a ready-made rule set on the Dow Jones

In guest mode a simple four-rule set runs across the 30 Dow Jones stocks. Move a threshold and see immediately who is left. You cannot break anything, and nothing about you is stored.

  3. If you like it: create an account

Then your rule set runs every night across all stocks, you get every metric, watchlists and the library of documented strategies. Free, no payment details, and Free stays Free.

Four metrics are enough to begin

These four are exactly what the guest mode rule set uses. What each one means, in a sentence. The glossary explains the rest whenever you need it.

  • ROE

    Return on equity

How much profit a company makes from its owners' money. High means the business works efficiently.

    Read in the glossary
  • P/E

    Price-to-earnings ratio

How many dollars the market asks for one dollar of annual profit. Low means cheaply valued, or the market does not trust the profit.

    Read in the glossary
  • D/E

    Debt-to-equity ratio

How much borrowed money sits on every dollar of equity. Low means the company depends less on its lenders.

    Read in the glossary
  • Div.

    Dividend yield

What percentage of the share price the company last paid out to shareholders. Counts only what was paid, not what was promised.

    Read in the glossary

One metric on its own says little. The rule set combines the four with thresholds and weights, and that is exactly what you can change in guest mode.

Rather play first? Guess the stock from its metrics.

The daily puzzle narrows a stock down by sector, region, size and valuation. Free, no account, and along the way you learn how metrics relate.

What the tool does not do, and why that is good for you

StockScorer gives no tips, no signals and no model portfolios. At first that sounds like less. It is the opposite: a tip you do not understand makes you dependent on the next person with a tip. A rule set you defined yourself you can check, adjust and keep.

That is why results are called high, medium or low match. A match with whose rules? With yours. At the start they are the rules of a ready-made template, later your own.

Who is behind it

StockScorer is built by one person in Germany and funded solely by user subscriptions. No broker in the background, no commission for referred accounts, no paid placements. The metrics come from the data provider leeway.tech and are checked for plausibility every night, but not collected by us.

How a score is calculated in detail is on the methodology page. What the tool explicitly is not has a page of its own.

What beginners want to know first

The questions beginners ask us most often, answered directly.

Do I need to understand every metric before I start?

No. The four above are enough for guest mode, and you do not even need to memorise them: every rule shows what it checks when you click it. Everything else you learn the moment you need it, in the glossary.

What does it cost, and what happens after the trial?

Guest mode and the public stock pages cost nothing and need no account. An account is free, without payment details, and starts with a full-access trial. After that Free continues: screener, scores and library stay usable, with quotas on profiles, watchlists and backtests. Premium is optional and cancellable monthly.

Is this investment advice?

No. StockScorer is an analysis tool for your own research. A score says how many of your rules a stock meets. It is not a recommendation to buy, hold or sell securities. What you make of it is your decision.

Can I break anything in guest mode?

No. Guest mode runs entirely in your browser, nothing is stored, nothing is sent to a server. Close the tab and it is gone. Changing rules, moving thresholds, creating a watchlist: all allowed.

Why does the tool not simply tell me what to buy?

Because, first, that would be investment advice, which we do not offer, and second, it would not help: a tip without reasoning is a tip without reasoning again next time. A rule set you understand stays with you, whichever stock is up next.

Why do I see no prices and only 13 metrics in guest mode?

Because the data provider's display licence defines which raw values may be shown without an account. Scores, categories and rules are visible without restriction. All further metrics come with a free account.

Notice

Not investment advice. StockScorer is an information and analysis tool. Scores reflect rule-based criteria and are not a recommendation to buy, hold or sell securities.
